Scotland Yard’s head of homicide recently stated in a survey that CCTV evidence has become as important as DNA and fingerprinting.
The first survey of its kind attempts to determine the importance of CCTV in todays crime investigations.
It was revealed that almost every single murder case uses CCTV footage as some type of evidence. In 90 murder cases over a one year period, 86 cases used CCTV camera footage. Of these 86 cases, 65 of the evidence were of the murder itself or the events leading up to and after it.
