Facebook Used with CCTV Evidence to Find Wrongdoer

After having CCTV evidence of his wrong doing posted on Facebook, the culprit has turned himself in to the police.

The young offender was caught on a pub’s CCTV camera purposely breaking an expensive picture in the hall of the pub. After fleeing from the pub the vandal was shocked to be told by numerous friends that his actions were on Facebook for everyone to see.

The owner of the pub had put images of the vandalism on Facebook and sent it to friends of the pub whom had all joined the pubs group on the social networking website. Within 30 minutes of being online the owner had recieved phone calls naming the person in the pictures.

However, the culprit was also informed of his appearance on Facebook and rang the pub landlord to apologise. The landlord explained that the CCTV camera footage had already been passed onto the police and he should ring them.

As soon as he did so the landlord removed the images from Facebook as its purpose had been fulfilled. The landlord stated to the police he felt it was important to remove the images once the vandal had handed himself in as he wasn’t attempting to embaress the culprit just find justice in the face of crime.
