Dublin has suffered in recent years due to a large increase in anti-social behaviour. So much so, the council has decided to invest €2.5m in CCTV cameras and surveillance.
The cameras are expected to be installed in four main locations; Neilstown, Fettercaim, Jobstown and Brookfield.
The CCTV cameras themselves are estimated to cost €1.2m and the other €1.3m consists of cabling, erection of the hardware, installation, software and monitoring costs.
The system will be monitored from one centeral location and aid local police forces in fighting the anti-social behaviour as well as other crimes.
The scheme is another addition since Dublin decided to enforce the community in 2005 with hi-tech CCTV equipment in other high profile areas of the area.
