A crackdown has begun on anti-social behaviour — the likes of brothels, dog fouling and littering - using covert CCTV cameras.
The council has been using high-tech CCTV equipment such as miniature cameras to record offenders unknowingly.
The initiative is led by Community Safety Enforcement officers whom go undercover with the cameras and have had recent success in the prosecution of fly tippers and several youths who have been caught vandalising, along with the closing of a brothel operating in the local area.
Police are looking at further ways they can utilise the latest surveillance technology in conjunction with their anti-social behaviour operations.
