In the past all parking tickets had to be attached to the windscreen of the offending vehicle but today a new scheme was announced allowing for tickets to be sent through the post, fines no longer being given out on the spot.
Already in force in London the new scheme has been spread across the rest of the country giving councils the choice as to whether make use of the scheme.
The newly named Traffic Wardens, now known as Civil Enforcement Officers, will be joined in the enforcement of traffic by CCTV and CCTV operators who are now also able to post fines to offenders. This meaning a car owner may not even be aware they have committed an offence.
The new scheme has led to anger from motorists, stating it isĀ another money spinning schemeĀ but ministers state it is a fairer system.
