Night time crime is often an issue for the police of Swindon City centre and the number of available patrol officers is becoming difficult to sustain with the amount of growing offences.
Operation Diamond was launched last year to tackle this issue.
In the evenings and weekends uniformed and plain clothes officers have been deployed to prevent anti-social behaviour. A dispersal order has allowed the officers to break up unruly groups and with the use of CCTV vans and hand held cameras the force has been able to identify any offenders.
These new tactics have seen a 12.9% drop in crime and that figure seems to be rising.
